This UK compilation shouldn't be confused with the Green Linnet released "Martin Carthy Collection". The track selection is completely different. This cd concentrates largely on Carthy's earliest solo recordings from the late 's and includes "Scarborough Fair", a song familiar to most listeners/5(9).

The Barley and the Rye [ Roud ; trad.] E.J. Moeran collected The Barley and the Rye in from the singing of Harry Cox of Norfolk. I don't know of a published version of him singing it, though. Martin Carthy sang Harry Cox's song in on his first album Martin Carthy, and Lal and Norma Waterson sang it in the same year in the BBC documentary Travelling for a Living.
