This album of Roger Miller's best songs sound as great today as they did back in the s. I've had "King of the Road" stuck in my head for days, thanks to this album. I also love the aw-shucks sound of "Dang Me", "Chug A Lug" and "Do Wacka Do"/5().

Roger Miller A Man Like Me. As a youngster, this author was introduced to country music through his grandmother, who was a real honest-to-goodness, grey haired, Granny widow living up in the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Private John Q is not available on any CD that I know of, but it clearly shows in the picture for the vinyl. Not to say this isn't worth it. Most Roger Miller is worth getting. But King Of The Road: The Genius Of Roger Miller is the one you really want to get. You can get a 5/5(2).

A quick glance at the songs and their timings might lead one to believe that this is a punk album, since half are under two minutes. Two classics from the Miller canon are here, "Chug-a-Lug" and "Dang Me," and among the lesser-known numbers is the catchy "Got Two Again," a children's song disguised as a Roger Miller song.

Not only did the recordings pay for the move, they made Roger Miller a star, for out of those off-the-cuff sessions came “Dang Me.” A #1 smash on the country charts, “Dang Me” was also a Top Ten pop hit, as were four more of the singles he released during his first two years on Smash.
